A lot of bloggers today have started a new phenomenon called guest blogging. This is the act of writing for another person’s blog on a topic both of you have agreed upon. It is one of the best ways to have fun in the Internet today and give you some traffic for your blog. I myself would usually go to a café, utilize their wireless Internet and write just about anything that I see around the place.
If a blogger has allowed you to guest post to their website, this does not mean that you can just do anything you would like about it; especially if they have already given you admin access. The first thing that you would want to do is to assess your reason for guest blogging. Are you looking to promote yourself? Do you want to add links to the article that you just wrote? Is affiliate linking in your mind?
If you answer yes to any or all of these questions, then guest blogging is not for you. It is not necessary to promote yourself in the article that you make. This is because the owner of the blogs would want you to write for them to promote their website and/or their cause. They may allow you to have a little author byline at the end of the article or a single natural link within it and nothing more.
Below are some guest blogging etiquettes that you should know if you plan to start guest posting for other bloggers today:
1. Understanding what the blog audience would want to see. There are some bloggers out there that would welcome people sharing deep information on certain topics while there are others who would want to just touch up casually on them. What is important here is that you need to respect what the blog owner wishes to see in their blog and take note of their audience as well.
2. Keep in mind the number of links the blog owner allows .It is a great thing that some bloggers out there would allow you to link inside the blog post body. It would be much easier for you to link into relevant content within your post as well. You would however want to make sure that you do not add extra links that would stray from the topic.
3. Do not rip off ideas or images that you have found in other people’s website. Unless you attribute the correct rights to it is true owner, do not try using images in your article that you have found elsewhere when blog posting. You would not want to let the kind blog owner get into trouble for this.
Overall, guest posting is a great way for you to write about things that cannot be covered in your own blog. It also gives you readership and exposure to other people on what you know about. If you are starting out for the first time, do not hesitate to let the blog owners know that you are new to this. They will be happy to guide you throughout the procedure.
